At each of the three shows, Capri won Baby in Group, and at the last of the shows, Capri went on to win her 3^rd Baby Puppy in Show!

The judges in this show were Mr Geoff Maudlin (Group) and Mrs Doreen Duffin (in Show).

As a Baby, Capri won 5 x Baby in Groups and 3 x Baby in Show awards.

Capri turns 6 month old today, so next time out, she will start competing against the big girls.

In addition to Capri’s stellar weekend, Wil (Mzalia Comedy Club) won Dog Challenge at all shows (2 with Best of Breed), and Marilyn won the Bitch Challenge (with 1 Best of Breed).

The star of the weekend was our darling Capri (Eilsta Eilov Capri) who won Baby of Breed at both shows, and on the Saturday went on to win Baby in Group under Mrs Doreen Duffin (Makuba Basenjis, Vic) and then took the ultimate prize of Baby in Show under Mr John Lowbridge of NSW.

At the same show, auntie Tina (BIS Aust Ch Mzalia Private Dancer) was Best of Breed and went on to win Australian Bred in Group under Mrs Duffin.

We didn’t show Tina at the second show on the Sunday (she gets bored with doing too many shows these days), and under Mr Summers of NSW, Wil (Mzalia Comedy Club) won Dog Challenge and Best of Breed, with Marilyn (Mzalia Playing The Part) winning Bitch Challenge and Runner-up Best of Breed.

Under judge Mr Bill Godfrey (SA), Capri (Eilsta Eilov Capri) won Baby of Breed, and sweet Marilyn (Mzalia Playing The Part) won Best of Breed and then Australian Bred in Group.

Due to my recent illness, David handled Marilyn for both the breed and her Class in Group win, making this the first time that David has handled a Class in Group winner at a Champ Show.

Perhaps he should have the job of handling Marilyn on a full time basis!

Hannah (aka Mzalia Comedy Festival) won Bitch Challenge and was Runner-up Best of Breed.

It was lovely to catch up with our friends at the show, and for the kids to perform so well, as this will be our last show for about 2 months, due to my overseas trip in a couple of weeks, and then the upcoming Adelaide Fringe which goes through until mid-March.

The judge of the Breed Classes was Mrs Barbara Binder (of Del Viento Borzoi, USA) and the judge of the Property Classes was Mr Tony Wills (of Rosiel Whippets, Victoria).

The best of our results were:

• Marilyn (aka Mzalia Playing The Part) – 2nd Limit Bitch (to the Reserve Challenge winning bitch)
• Hannah (aka Mzalia Comedy Festival) – 2nd Minor Puppy Bitch
• Wil (aka Mzalia Comedy Club) – 3rd Puppy Dog

Our congratulations to all of the the winners.

After missing the NSW Specialty in October, it was great to catch up with everybody at the show, and see so many basenjis again in one place.

Hopefully we will see everyone again in NSW in October!

There were two shows, and our judges were Ms B Moore and Mrs Annabel Gunn – both of South Australia.

Keke won Dog Challenge and Best of Breed at both shows, with Marilyn again winning Bitch Challenge and Runner-up Best of Breed.

In the Baby Classes, Wil won Baby Puppy Dog at each show, with Hannah and Kehau sharing the wins in the Baby Bitch Classes. Wil went on to win Baby of Breed and then Baby in Group at both shows!

Wil really is becoming the little showman and is reminding me more and more of both his dad Keke, and his grand-dad, Ranger.

And Keke was on his best behaviour on the lead as well, so perhaps we may finally have is playing on the lead problem sorted!

All in all a good day!

We were entered at all 4 of the shows, but with Smiling Hussy running on Monday, I’m going to the races instead.

It was a fun weekend, catching up with people we haven’t seen in a while, and we had some nice results in the Ring as well.

Our judges for the weekend were Mrs Diana Fenton, Mrs Annette Bowe and Mr Douglas Bowe – all of New South Wales.

Keke won Dog Challenge and Best of Breed at the 3 shows we competed in, with Marilyn winning Bitch Challenge and Runner-up Best of Breed at each show, as well as winning Australian Bred in Group at the first show under Mrs Fenton. This was Marilyn’s first ever Class in Group win!

In the Baby Dog Classes, Wil won Baby Puppy Dog at each show, with Hannah winning the Baby Bitch Classes. When it came to Baby of Breed, the honours were split, with Hannah winning Baby of Breed twice and Wil once.

Another pleasing thing about the weekend, is that I think I have finally worked out how to get Keke to gait nicely on the lead without jumping, grabbing my sleeve, and going into play mode. He was very “naughty” on Saturday – much to the amusement of everyone watching – but a friend of mine (Josie, from the Adelaide Plains Kennel & Obedience Club) suggested a technique, which seemed to work for the rest of the weekend.

I wonder if it will still work when we go to our next shows at Port Elliott next weekend

Whilst we were not planning on running on two girls, we had difficulty deciding between them, so they will both stay with us for the time being. 

Their first shows will be at the end of August.
