Today I had my first success as a racehorse owner, when Chief Red Cloud won his first race – a 2100m Maiden at Stony Creek in Victoria. He led all of the way to win by ½ a length. It may have only been a country maiden, but it was still so exciting to finally [...]

Chief Red Cloud was disappointing today in his first start back from a spell. He stumbled at the start, losing a bit of ground and was then hussled along to sit up 4th in the run, close to the leaders. He travelled well until the turn, and when they quickened up, he failed to go [...]

Chief Red Cloud will have his next start at Ballarat on Thursday 1 October. He is No.1 in Race 2 and he will be ridden by Dean Holland. This distance is likely to be too short for him (I think he is more likely to be a 2000m to 2400m horse), but will be interesting [...]

Chief Red Cloud had an 800m trial this morning at Cranbourne. After missing the start by a couple of lengths, he ran on well to finish in 2nd place. The winner won easily in the quickest time of the morning, and is undefeated so far from 2 starts. His trainer Greg Eurell said that he [...]

Chief Red Cloud had another good result today, in what is possibly his most promising run to-date. As usual he jumped well but settled back in the field with only on or two horses behind him. Approaching the home turn, he was bustled up around the field, but wobbled around the turn, and was a [...]

Chief Red Cloud ran 3rd again at Cranbourne today. The track was again a Slow 7, and only 4 horses started. Chief jumped well settling in 2nd place, but lost position just before the home straight. Once they turned for home, he again picked up again to finish 3rd. From watching his 2 races on TV so far, he [...]

I have just finished watching Chief’s debut, and how exciting it was to have a horse running – even if it was only a provincial maiden! Due to the amount of rain in the days leading up to the race the track was rate a Slow 7, and as a result there were only 4 [...]
