I found a fanttastic website for the sadly defunct Rowley Park Speedway: http://www.rowleypark.com/

Between 1968 and 1977 I hardly missed a meeting at Rowley Park Speedway, going almost every Friday night during the season with my mother and grandmother. Sadly Rowley Park was closed down at the end of the 1977, (after an amazing final meeting) but it was never quite the same Speedway Park and I have hardly been to the speedway since. Murray Bridge Speedway has a little of the same mystique, but there will never be another to replace Rowley Park.

It was great to hear that Aussie David Brabham was part of the team that won the 2009 Le Mans 24 hour race over the weekend. His co-drivers were Alexander Wurz and Marc Gene.

This was the first outright win for Peugeot since 1993, when David’s brother Geoff was one of the winning drivers.

It is also 50 years since their father Sir Jack Brabham won the first of his 3 Formula 1 World Championships.

I have been fortunate to meet Sir Jack on a couple of occassions – most recently in November 2005 when celebrating the 50th Anniversary of Sir Jack’s win in the 1955 Australian Grand Prix at Port Wakefield. He is a gentleman and a true legend of the sport.
