Chief Red Cloud finishes 3rd on debut
I have just finished watching Chief’s debut, and how exciting it was to have a horse running – even if it was only a provincial maiden!
Due to the amount of rain in the days leading up to the race the track was rate a Slow 7, and as a result there were only 4 starters in his race. He jumped well, but couldn’t go with them early and settled at the tail of the field. Coming onto the straight he was last, 4 lengths behind the last horse, but finished extremely quickly to grab 3rd place finishing only a length behind the 2nd place horse.
From the replay, I am not sure how well he handled the heavy going, but certainly showed that he is a horse looking for more distance.
Hopefully he will pull up OK and will be able to have another start in a couple of weeks time.
