I am a racehorse owner!
For as long as I can remember, I have had an interest in horse racing. It all started with my late grandmother, who used to take me to the races once a week when I was a kid.
During the 1980′s, for a few years I had a part time involvement with racing stud here in Adelaide, which was fantastic. It was great following the progress of their horses – especially the beautiful Adraan (Fr) filly Magic Flute, who won many good races during her career, including the Doncaster Handicap and the 1000 Guineas (both Group 1 races).
Anyway my husband David recently gave me an early bithday present – a share in a syndicate of 5 young racehorses! What a thrill!
All rising 2 year-olds, the 5 horses are:
- a chestnut filly by Hussonet (USA)
- a chestnut colt by Choisir (Aus)
- a chestnut colt by Testa Rossa (Aus)
- a brown colt by Commands (Aus)
- a bay colt by Falbrav (Ire)
Three of them have now completed their breaking in and basic education, one is currently finishing his education, and the last of them – a slower maturing sort – won’t be educated until later this year.
In the next few weeks we will start looking for racing names for each of these horses. That will be fun!
